Skills Grid
Every business owner started their business because they knew they had a product or service to offer that there was a market for.
Many business people are excellent at what they do but not all of them have all the skills that are needed to ensure that their product/service is known about and bought by as many consumers as it could be.
In Richard Branson’s autobiography, he openly talks about the fact that he does not have skills in all of the areas he needs them to be successful within business. So what he does is he attracts around him people who have those skills.
Now that is fine for someone like Richard Branson who has the money to pay for those services. But for those of us who aren’t quite in that league yet, we have to try a different approach.
So many of us have to develop skills in areas that are new to us.
Although I have to say that one of my personal sayings is do what you do well and pay someone else to do the rest.
Take a look at the Marketing activities below and identify where you may need to develop your skills.
Please score yourself from 1 to 10, 1 being no knowledge and 10 being highly skilled no development needed.AreaResearch
