If you don’t know who Warren Buffet is, then you’re going to want to. He’s one of the richest in the world and is sitting in third behind Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos. He has made his billions through numerous channels and is known to have a fantastic reading habit, reportedly reading around 200 pages a day.

Now we’re not saying you have to be reading 200 pages a day, let’s be honest, that’s a huge amount. But, that doesn’t mean that you can’t get started and try and make a dent into reading.

Start small and work your way up. The knowledge you can gain from reading is incredible. Even if you’re 10 per cent as successful as Warren Buffet, then you’ll be set for life.

Motivation Generates Great Habits

Use your motivation to encourage you to create the lifestyle you desire. Buffet still reads on a daily basis and you should try to as well. If you’re in business, you feel as though you don’t have enough time in the day to fit anything else in it.

Even if it’s only 15-20 minutes a day, that’s a good chunk of reading you’re able to fit in, or even before you go to bed on a night, it might be nice to get away from your bright phone screen and relax by diving into a book.

Try to motivate yourself to fit it in and watch as this habit helps you progress towards where you eventually desire to be.

How Can You Read More Pages

If you’re not exactly a reader, even two or three pages can sound like a struggle, but fortunately, you can train your brain to become accustomed to reading so you can easily reach more pages. Fortunately, Buffet has offered his words of wisdom at how he manages to read a huge number of pages and the strategies you can use to help you reach your targets.

Make Books More Accessible

If you live somewhere where books aren’t easy to come by, then you’re not going to read. Make sure that you have them everywhere – e.g. next to your bed, on a desk, in your bag etc. and try and fill any spare moments you have with reading.

Leave Your Phone Alone And Go Paperback In The Morning And Night

It can actually feel invigorating getting away from your phone. It can feel like a breath of fresh air when you get away from it, so try to do it more often. In the morning, don’t look at your phone and scroll through your emails or social media, take 10-20 minutes reading your book and the same goes at night. When you’re in bed ready to go to sleep, instead of scrolling through your phone, carry on reading your book, it helps relax your eyes and feel much better.

Read Different Books

If it helps you focus on the content at hand, then there’s nothing wrong with reading one book at a time. But Warren is a fan of having multiple books on the go at once. This is because the different types of publications can all serve different purposes and be more appropriate for specific goals or moods throughout the day. 

Examine Your Calendar For Breaks

Realistically, you should have a weekly plan or even a daily plan, so you should have a vague idea of where you have time to squeeze in a quick read. Even if it’s a quick five minutes, by pencilling in time, you feel much more committed to reading.

Volunteer As A Reader

This can really help you get into the swing of reading frequently as there’s always nursing homes or hospitals looking for people to read to others. It’s meaningful for the people listening and it also gives you a fantastic connection with the local community.

There’s a huge number of ways to increase the number of times you read. As we said, 200 pages is an incredible amount so you shouldn’t expect yourself to try and get through that number of pages a day. But even if it’s 5 or 10 pages, you’re better off than when you weren’t reading.

It’s all about putting in the time. The more you read, the more you’re going to get back from it. Just look at Warren Buffet, he accredits his fortune to reading, so try and do the same!
